Work Party, 3:00 Monday, unless it's raining

Hi folks,
We'll have a work party tomorrow (Monday, Oct 27th), weather permitting. If it's really raining, let's not do it, but if it's reasonably nice, we can rake and prune and weed, etc.
Bring your usual supplies (secateurs, gloves, rake, weeding tools, kneeling pad, etc.). I'll bring leaf bags.

Work Party, Monday Oct 20th, 3:00

We've got quite a few plants to put in the ground that we acquired at the plant sale last week… and we can do some raking and weeding and gathering of acorns for Youngmee's mother-in-law (formerly of Florida Market). Please join us if you can and bring along whatever gardening implements you like (kneeling pad, secateurs, rake, gloves, etc.).
I might only have one or two leaf bags. If I remember and have time, I'll get more before 3:00.
Come if you can. No need to RSVP.

No work party this Monday!

It's Thanksgiving. Lots of us will be cooking or relaxing.
Plus, it might well be raining.
Let's try for next Monday!

A report on Mason Bees for 2014...

I took the mason bees down a few days ago and here's my report:
In the two mason bee condos in my back yard (one plastic and one paper tubes, a style that Derry Walsh recommended) there were NO cocoons! None. Not one. Not even any horrible evidence that there had been some but they'd been destroyed.
In the one plastic condo in the Greenway, there were a total of 7 viable cocoons and lots of icky stuff (like maggots and two live wasps, etc. — it's not a fun process, cleaning them out). Those 7 are now in my fridge until spring.
Disappointing, this year!
Here's hoping for better results next year! We'll have to purchase some cocoons in the spring.

Work Party, Greenway, 3:00 Monday!

We got rained out last week. I hope the weather stays as phenomenal as it has been over the last few days… Unless it's pouring, we'll have a work party! If it is raining in the afternoon, please check your e-mail before you venture forth...
Hope to see you there!
Bring the usual (gardening gloves, rake, broom, kneeling pad, weeding tool, secateurs, etc.)
