May 16th Meeting Notes
We had a Britannia Neighbours meeting tonight and here are some brief minutes:
Pat has arranged to have an arbourist come tomorrow (May 17th) to identify the tree in the sunny southwest corner of the Greenway. Margaret Condon says "It looks like a weed." Pat suspects it's an elm, and if it is, it will probably fall prey to Dutch elm disease (as have all the other elm trees on the Brit site) and we feel we'd rather get rid of it now than wait until it is diseased. Once we get the identification report we will decide its fate. We are thinking of replacing it with a ginkgo.
We will make one or two shopping trips in early June to "spend" the gift certificates we won at the Green Streets Garden Party.
Margaret and Jane weeded on the Sweet Cherubim side a couple of weeks ago; Terry Dixon kindly arranged to have the bags of garden refuse removed.
Pat will be talking to Victoria soon about getting started on the murals to go in the Sweet Cherubim windows. Victoria is the artist who painted the mural on the south side of Drive Organics.
Penny will be getting a simple (one page) Britannia Neighbours Web site up soon. It will link to this and other Britannia Neighbours blogs. We're putting up a Web site so we can be found when someone does a google search for "Britannia Neighbours"...

Saturday May 20 - Water and Weed in the Greenway from 2:00-3:00

Hi Britannia Neighbours,

The Britannia Neighbours meeting is changed from Tues May 9th to Tues May 16th, still at 7:15...

A couple of people realized they couldn't make the meeting if it were held on the 9th, so we're moving it forward one week to the 16th. Hope you can make it.

It will take place place somewhere in the Britannia Info Centre. Just ask where we are at the front desk.

And don't forget Stone Soup this Saturday, May 6th, in Napier Square, 11:30-5:00!

Cheers,
Penny
