Work Party, Saturday, August 30th (already!), Napier Square Greenway, 3-5
Hello friends,
Yes, it's true. We're having another work party in the Greenway on Saturday.
Pat and Katherine will get a few more bags of manure, which we will spread and dig in. We will also tidy up and weed, so that the garden looks its best for Artful Sundays on Sunday.
Please come if you can (even if just for a half-hour or if you just want to check in and say hello).
We regulars would love to have you.
Bring any or all of the following: secateurs, weeding knife or trowel, kneeling pad, gardening gloves, pan or bucket in which to collect your weeds, leaf rake, etc.
Rain or shine (unless it's a dreadful deluge, as it was this evening at about 6:30 ... we got soaked to the skin in goretex on our dog walk this evening).

Hi people! We have done so much lately and really have begun to feel we have ** control** of the weeds and this is because we've been scheduling regular work parties (rather than only occasionally and then only when everything had gotten quite out of hand) ... so we are having another work party on August 23rd, Saturday, 3:00-5:00. Please come if you can. Bring the usual tools (I bring a kneeling pad, a steak knife for digging out weeds, gardening gloves, secateurs, etc.).
We'd love to have your help.
Cheers, Penny for Britannia Neighbours

Hi folks,
We'll have a work party in the Greenway this Saturday, August 16th, 3:00-5:00 to weed and tidy up. We have made a tremendous amount of progress over the summer but there's still quite a bit more to do ... You don't need to let me know if you can't make it but it would be lovely if you could come!
Also, we requested that the Park Board come and trim some of the trees in the vicinity of the "living room" corner of the Greenway -- to improve visibility and make it less of a private space for the people who hang out there -- and they came this morning (Mark Rabey and Laurie Gibson) and they did a magnificent job of pruning and trimming. Pat and I were there to oversee the process.
Anyway, please come Saturday if you can. What to bring? weeding gear: secateurs, gloves, kneeling pad, rake, trowel, etc.

Hi Britannia Neighbours,
I thought you might be interested in taking a shift at the VPL information table in the Napier Greenway at the start of the school year to welcome parents and their kids to Brit.
Please read the message below and let Cathy Wang, the Manager of the Britannia Branch of the VPL, know if you're interested in helping out....
Cheers, Penny

Here's a message from Cathy:

...To counter some of the security concerns of parents of Britannia students, the Library and Community Centre would set up an information table/tent at the Greenway before and after school to welcome kids and parents to programs on site.

The Library has offered to organize volunteers and materials for this event. I wonder if you and other neighbours you know would like to help out in "personing" this table. Dates are Sept 2 - 5 (Tues to Fri). Our estimate is we need 2 persons for each morning from 8-9 and 2 persons for each afternoon from 3:30-5, depending on elementary school's schedule for the first week of school.
